Day 01: Drive to the southeast of Addis Ababa through the rift valley town of Adama/Nazereth to the Awash National Park. A short visit of the park and lunch break followed by driving to Semera for official permission to the Afar triangle. Further drive to Dubti for an overnight stay at Tendaho Guest House.

Day 02: Drive to Afambo  lake and en route visit of the Afar village for handicraft work and lunch at Asaita late in the afternoon more village tour and thermal energy source. Overnight at Dubti Guest house.

Day 03: Drive to Afdhera via serdo and late in the afternoon visit the salty lake of Afdhera and its salt production activities. At this point we take with us one local guide and two police to escort us all through.

Day 04: Drive about 65 km to Dodome village to hire Camels and one Camel man. After we drive 10 km further for lunch stop. Afternoon we leave one police with the driver and continue 25 km up through recent volcanic igneous rock hill by the camel and you will be there by midnight and spend the night on top to view the ertale active volcanic eruption.

Day 05: After volcanic visit for about two times, we will be back to our for lunch. Afternoon leave Dodome to Dalole. About mid way we shall spend the night at weydodo village. It is mandatory to let the chief know about our presence.

Day 06: Leave weydodo to Dallole  through the small town of Hamedella. Here we shall have one more local guide to continue for visit of lake Asale rock salt mining and camel caravan not less than 5000 and a 10 km more drive takes us to Dallole. We should be back for late lunch to Hamedella. Taking after a short break we continue to  Berhale about 49 km for an overnight stay at the camp very basic camp facility.

Day 07: Leave Berhale in the morning to Mekele 130 km to continue our tour to the historic north.
Note: this tour programme can be made starting from Mekele Vis versa,after your flight from Addis to Mekele.
One can combine the tour to visit Hdar, where Lucy was first discovered in 19 74.
